New Delhi, December 2, 2025: In a major boost to Maruti Suzuki’s electric vehicle lineup, the upcoming Maruti e-Vitara has secured a 5-star safety rating in the latest Bharat NCAP crash tests. This makes it one of the safest electric SUVs in the mass-market segment in India.
According to the test report released on Monday, the e-Vitara earned top marks in both adult and child occupant protection, showcasing robust structural integrity and advanced safety technologies. The electric SUV’s strong performance underscores Maruti’s renewed focus on safety as it expands into the EV space.
Bharat NCAP highlighted that the e-Vitara offered excellent frontal and side impact protection, with its high-strength body shell remaining stable during crash simulations. The SUV is equipped with multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, and ISOFIX child seat anchors as standard across variants.
The model also features advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including lane departure warning, autonomous emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control—features previously missing in several Maruti Suzuki models.
Industry experts say that this rating will significantly boost customer confidence, especially as the automaker readies the e-Vitara for launch in early 2025. With EV adoption steadily rising in India, the 5-star certification places the e-Vitara in a competitive position against rivals in the compact SUV segment.
Maruti Suzuki is expected to reveal pricing and variant details soon, with production underway at its Gujarat EV facility.
The strong safety score is being seen as a landmark moment for India’s top-selling carmaker as it transitions towards a safer and greener vehicle portfolio.
