Several restaurants across India have begun removing popular menu items such as rava dosa, parotta, and pizza as the ongoing LPG shortage disrupts kitchen operations. The shortage has made it difficult for eateries to maintain regular cooking schedules, forcing many to adjust their menus to conserve available gas supplies.
Restaurant owners say that dishes requiring continuous high heat or longer cooking times are the first to be affected. Items like rava dosa and parotta require large griddles and prolonged use of LPG stoves, while pizzas often depend on gas-powered ovens. With limited fuel available, many establishments are prioritizing simpler dishes that consume less gas.
The LPG shortage has reportedly affected both small roadside eateries and larger restaurants. Some owners have reduced operating hours, while others have temporarily closed certain sections of their kitchens. In busy food hubs, customers are already noticing shorter menus and longer waiting times.
Industry representatives say the problem is linked to disruptions in LPG supply and increased demand in recent weeks. Restaurants rely heavily on commercial LPG cylinders, and delays in deliveries have forced businesses to ration fuel.
Customers, meanwhile, have expressed disappointment at not finding their favorite dishes. However, many restaurant owners say the decision is necessary to continue operating until the supply situation improves.
Authorities and suppliers are working to stabilize LPG distribution, and restaurant associations hope that normal supplies will resume soon. Until then, many eateries are expected to continue limiting menu options to manage fuel consumption.
