Iran Escalates Tensions, Names Major US Tech Giants as Potential Targets

Source India Today

In a sharp escalation of geopolitical tensions, Iran has issued a warning that it may target several major American technology companies, including Apple and Microsoft, as part of a broader retaliation strategy amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

According to statements attributed to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), at least 18 US-based firms have been identified as “legitimate targets.” The list reportedly includes leading global corporations such as Google, Meta, Intel, and Boeing.

Iran claims these companies are linked to US and Israeli military and intelligence operations, alleging that their technologies—particularly in artificial intelligence and communications—have been used in surveillance and targeted strikes within Iranian territory.

The IRGC has warned that facilities and offices associated with these companies in the Middle East could face attacks starting as early as April 1. Employees working at these locations have reportedly been advised to evacuate, along with civilians living near such facilities.

This development comes amid an already volatile situation in the region, with ongoing military exchanges involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. Analysts suggest that Tehran’s move signals a shift toward targeting economic and technological infrastructure rather than just traditional military assets.

The announcement has also rattled global markets, with investors reacting nervously to the possibility of attacks on multinational corporations. Stock indices showed signs of volatility following the reports, reflecting concerns about the broader economic impact of the escalating conflict.

While no attacks on these companies have been confirmed yet, the threat highlights the increasing entanglement of global technology firms in geopolitical conflicts and raises concerns about the safety of corporate infrastructure and personnel in conflict-prone regions.
