Seychelles: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday outlined India’s strategic vision to transform the Indian Ocean into an “Ocean of Opportunity,” emphasizing regional cooperation, sustainable development, and economic growth during his visit to Seychelles.
Addressing a joint gathering with Seychelles leadership, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of the Indian Ocean as a critical global trade route and a hub of cultural and economic exchange. He stated that India envisions the region not just as a maritime space, but as a platform for shared prosperity among nations bordering its waters.
Modi underscored India’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with island nations like Seychelles, focusing on sectors such as blue economy, maritime security, climate resilience, and infrastructure development. He noted that collaborative efforts would unlock new economic opportunities while ensuring environmental sustainability.
“The Indian Ocean has always connected civilizations. Today, it can become a driver of growth and innovation for the entire region,” Modi said, adding that India remains dedicated to inclusive growth that benefits all stakeholders.
During the visit, both nations signed multiple agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation in defense, trade, and renewable energy.
