MUMBAI — Bigg Boss 13 runner-up Asim Riaz has publicly refuted allegations surrounding religious conversion attempts during his past relationship with actress Himanshi Khurana, warning against using faith as a tool for public attention.
The controversy flared up after Khurana appeared on a podcast hosted by fellow reality TV star Paras Chhabra. During the interview, Khurana reflected on their four-year relationship and discussed how religious differences created internal friction. While she refrained from calling it a direct push for conversion, she stated that her former partner frequently shared teachings about his faith in hopes she would accept them—a proposition she ultimately found unacceptable. Khurana recalled feeling deeply conflicted about her spiritual identity before their eventual split in late 2023.
Responding to the viral remarks, Riaz posted a strongly worded statement on social media denying the narrative.
“I never asked anyone to change their religion. Not once,” Riaz wrote. “So please, don’t use religion as a weapon. It’s a deeply sensitive subject, and turning something so personal into a reason for people to hate me is immature and only shows how low you’re willing to go for attention.”
In his statement, Riaz also addressed host Paras Chhabra, criticizing him for monetizing gossip and digging into personal matters years after the relationship concluded. Riaz escalated the dispute further on X (formerly Twitter), alleging that Khurana had reached out months after their breakup seeking reconciliation.
The duo, who met during Bigg Boss 13 in 2019 and dated for four years, announced their mutual breakup in December 2023 citing differences in faith.
