The comedy sphere recently witnessed a fiery yet hilarious exchange between veteran actor-comedian Archana Puran Singh and popular stand-up comic Samay Raina. During the latest episode of Raina’s hit YouTube talent hunt show, India’s Got Latent 2, a lighthearted banter quickly escalated into a viral moment when Raina decided to poke fun at Archana’s vlogging career. However, the seasoned television personality proved she is not one to back down, delivering a sharp retort that left both the host and the audience in splits.
The episode, which featured Archana Puran Singh and internet sensation Orhan Awatramani—popularly known as Orry—as guest panelists, was progressing with its usual quirky charm. The catalyst for the witty showdown was a contestant named A.R. Tiwari. After delivering an impressive Bhojpuri shayari performance, Raina asked Tiwari what his name stood for. Upon revealing himself as an “allrounder,” Tiwari explained that apart from writing poetry, his interests included dancing, rapping, and vlogging.
Seizing the opportunity to land a comedic punch, Raina quickly interjected. Targeting Archana, who regularly uploads family vlogs on YouTube, Raina cheekily remarked, “Did you say vlog? Vlogging doesn’t need talent”.
The sly dig at her digital content creation did not slide past Archana. Without missing a beat, the actress fired back with a savage reply that perfectly targeted Raina’s brand of roast comedy, which often relies on profanity. She retorted, “Gaaliyan dena talent hai?” (Is abusing a talent?). Her quick thinking and sharp wit immediately sent the studio audience into a frenzy of cheers and hooting, temporarily leaving the otherwise quick-witted Raina without an immediate comeback.
However, the roasting did not stop there. Raina soon pivoted to making jokes about Archana’s infectious, signature laugh and eventually targeted her family members. Recalling his admiration for her iconic role as “Miss Braganza” in the 1998 blockbuster Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Raina seamlessly transitioned into another roast regarding her vlogs. “I have seen your vlogs; neither does your husband work, nor do your ‘nalle’ (useless) sons. In her house, reverse patriarchy is happening. Only women are working,” Raina joked.
Adding to the humor of the situation, Archana’s two sons, Aaryamann and Ayushmaan Sethi, were seated right in the front row of the audience. Taking the roast in stride, the boys burst out laughing. Archana, maintaining her sporting spirit, turned to her sons and delivered a hilarious piece of motherly advice: “I warned you not to sit in the front row. This is not how you get fame, this is how you get insulted”.
Archana Puran Singh embarked on her YouTube vlogging journey alongside her family in December 2024. Together with her husband, actor-director Parmeet Sethi, and their two sons, she launched the channel AAAP Ka Parivaar. What reportedly began as casual videos filmed with her house help during the COVID-19 lockdown soon blossomed into a fully-fledged digital venture, encouraged by friends like Bharti Singh and Farah Khan. Today, the channel is immensely popular for offering fans an unfiltered, candid glimpse into the Sethi household’s everyday banter, travel diaries, and food outings.
Ultimately, the episode proved to be a massive hit, perfectly blending Raina’s edgy roast comedy with Archana’s seasoned charm. The exchange not only entertained fans but also demonstrated that when it comes to trading comedic blows, the veteran star can easily hold her own against the new generation of comics.
