Marvel’s epic blockbuster Avengers: Endgame Encore returned to Indian cinemas on September 25 with bonus scenes, and it is making noise at the box office. Eleven days into its re-release, the film is just a few steps away from breaking an all-time record. Chasing the All-Time Re-Release Record
Avengers: Endgame Encore has already overtaken Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar to stand as the biggest Hollywood re-release in Indian cinema history. Now, it has set its sights on Indian box office records.
The current champion among re-released films in India is the romantic drama Sanam Teri Kasam, which earned ₹35.55 crore net during its theatrical return. By its eleventh day, Endgame Encore had accumulated around ₹34.29 crore net across India. That leaves the Marvel hit less than ₹2 crore shy of crossing the romantic hit to claim the crown for the biggest re-release run overall.
How the Box Office Numbers Stack Up
The film opened to thunderous crowds during its first weekend, pulling in huge numbers across English, Hindi, and regional languages.
Week 1: ₹31.4 crore net
Day 8 (Friday): ₹90 lakh
Day 9 (Saturday): ₹81 lakh
Day 10 (Sunday): ₹84 lakh
Day 11 (Monday): ₹34 lakh
Total Net Collection: ₹34.29 crore
(In terms of total gross collections, the film has easily crossed the ₹44 crore milestone nationwide).
The film saw a drop in ticket sales on its second Monday, which is standard for weekday screenings. Additionally, new movie releases took away over 90% of its initial screens. Even with very limited showtimes left, fans continue to fill seats, especially in premium formats like 3D and IMAX.
Why Fans Are Rushing Back to Cinemas
Originally released in 2019, Avengers: Endgame remains one of the most loved superhero movies of all time. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, it brought together fan favourites like Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and Scarlett Johansson.
The special “Encore” edition gives fans a big reason to return: it features exclusive, never-before-seen footage and post-credit previews that set the stage for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.
The Final Lap
Even though ticket sales have slowed down on regular weekdays, movie experts believe the film has enough steam left to cover the gap. A decent jump during the coming weekend could push Avengers: Endgame Encore past Sanam Teri Kasam, etching its name in Indian cinema history once again.
