The temporary closure of Indian Visa Application Centres (IVACs) in Bangladesh entered its second consecutive day on Wednesday, with the centres in Rajshahi and Khulna remaining shut, officials said.
The suspension of services has disrupted visa-related operations for hundreds of applicants, particularly those seeking Indian visas for medical treatment, education, business, and tourism. Applicants who had appointments scheduled at the affected centres were advised to await further instructions regarding rescheduling.
While no official timeline has been announced for the resumption of services, authorities indicated that the closures are precautionary in nature. Other IVACs across Bangladesh are being monitored closely, and services may be adjusted depending on the evolving situation.
The Indian High Commission in Dhaka has urged applicants to rely only on official communication channels for updates and cautioned against misinformation. It also said that emergency and essential services would be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Bangladesh remains one of the largest sources of Indian visa applicants, with thousands traveling daily for healthcare and educational purposes. The ongoing closure has raised concerns among applicants, many of whom have expressed uncertainty over travel plans and medical appointments.
Further updates are expected as authorities assess conditions and determine when normal operations can safely resume.
