New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held a telephonic conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during which the two leaders reviewed the growing strategic partnership between India and Israel and exchanged views on the evolving situation in West Asia, including efforts to restore peace in Gaza.
According to official sources, Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s strong commitment to its long-standing friendship with Israel and highlighted the importance of cooperation in key areas such as defence, counter-terrorism, agriculture, innovation, and technology. Both leaders expressed satisfaction over the steady expansion of bilateral ties and agreed to further strengthen collaboration across sectors of mutual interest.
During the discussion, Prime Minister Modi underlined India’s concern over the humanitarian situation in Gaza and emphasized the need for an early cessation of violence. He reaffirmed India’s support for dialogue and diplomacy as the only viable path to lasting peace in the region, while stressing the importance of ensuring the safety of civilians and facilitating humanitarian assistance.
Netanyahu briefed Modi on Israel’s security concerns and ongoing efforts related to regional stability. The Israeli Prime Minister also shared his perspective on initiatives aimed at achieving peace and security in Gaza, noting the complex challenges involved.
The conversation comes amid heightened international focus on the Gaza conflict, with global leaders engaging in diplomatic outreach to prevent further escalation. India has consistently called for restraint, adherence to international humanitarian law, and a negotiated two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine issue.
Both leaders agreed to remain in close touch and continue consultations on regional and global developments of shared concern, reaffirming their commitment to a strong and forward-looking India-Israel partnership.
