New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday struck a note of humility and discipline while addressing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and workers at an event marking the assumption of charge by newly elected party president Nitin Nabin. Declaring himself a “karyakarta” (worker) of the organisation, Modi told party members, “You are my boss, I am a worker,” underscoring the BJP’s emphasis on collective leadership and organisational strength.
Congratulating Nabin on taking charge as the BJP chief, the Prime Minister said the party’s success over the years has been rooted in its strong cadre base, ideological clarity and commitment to public service. He urged party workers to remain grounded, disciplined and connected to the grassroots, stressing that the BJP’s identity lies in service rather than power.
In a sharp political message, Modi asked party members to consciously distance themselves from what he described as the “failings and culture” of the Congress. Without naming specific leaders, he said decades of misgovernance, entitlement and dynastic politics had weakened institutions and eroded public trust, and warned BJP workers against complacency or arrogance.
“The people of India have repeatedly rejected politics based on entitlement. Our responsibility is to offer clean governance, accountability and a vision for a developed India,” the Prime Minister said, calling on party leaders to focus on performance, transparency and discipline at all levels.
New BJP president Nitin Nabin, in his address, thanked the party leadership for the trust reposed in him and pledged to strengthen the organisation ahead of upcoming electoral challenges. He said the party would continue to expand its outreach, sharpen its ideological commitment and work in alignment with the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’.
The event was attended by senior BJP leaders, ministers and party office-bearers from across the country, marking the beginning of a new organisational phase for the ruling party as it prepares for crucial political battles ahead.
