Border 2, the much-anticipated sequel to the 1997 war classic Border, continues its steady run at the box office, showing noticeable growth on its second day of release. Headlined by Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan, the film has managed to cross the ₹60 crore mark within just two days of its theatrical run.
Carrying forward the legacy of the original film, Border 2 has largely received positive word of mouth from audiences. Many viewers feel that the sequel stays true to the emotional and patriotic spirit of its predecessor while adding a modern cinematic scale.
The film opened strongly on Friday with a collection of ₹30 crore, backed by impressive advance bookings across major centres. According to early estimates by Sacnilk, the film witnessed growth on Saturday, earning approximately ₹35 crore on Day 2. This takes the total domestic collection to around ₹65 crore in just two days.
Along with Sunny Deol, the film features Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty and Diljit Dosanjh in pivotal roles. The ensemble cast and the patriotic theme have played a key role in drawing audiences to theatres, especially during the ongoing extended Independence Day weekend.
However, trade analysts note that the film’s performance could have been even stronger. As per Box Office India, heavy rainfall across parts of North India and delayed arrival of prints in certain centres reportedly affected collections by a few lakhs. Despite this, Border 2 still ranks among the better opening films of the past year.
In the list of top ten openers of 2025–26, Border 2 currently holds the second position, with Chhaava leading the chart. While some films in recent months have shown stronger momentum after modest openings, industry observers will be closely watching whether Border 2 can sustain its pace through the weekend.
