Mumbai Police have launched an intensive probe after an attack was reported outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence in Juhu, with a gang allegedly linked to Lawrence Bishnoi claiming responsibility for the incident. No injuries were reported, but the shooting has raised fresh concerns over celebrity security in the city.
According to police officials, the incident occurred late at night when unidentified assailants fired shots outside the residential building. The bullets reportedly struck the exterior wall and nearby structures, causing panic in the area. Rohit Shetty and his family were inside the house at the time and are said to be safe.
Soon after the incident, a social media post allegedly surfaced from a group claiming links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, taking responsibility for the firing. Police are currently verifying the authenticity of the claim and examining whether the message was intended to threaten or intimidate.
Senior officers confirmed that CCTV footage from the vicinity is being analysed and forensic teams have collected evidence from the spot. Security around the filmmaker’s residence has been tightened, and additional police deployment has been made in the Juhu area as a precautionary measure.
An FIR has been registered, and multiple teams have been formed to track down those involved. Investigators are also looking into possible motives, including past threats and extortion angles, though officials said it would be premature to draw conclusions.
Mumbai Police assured that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure the safety of the filmmaker and other residents, adding that strict action will be taken against those responsible once identified.
