NEW DELHI – India’s shooting sensation Esha Singh continued her clinical run at the Asian Shooting Championship, spearheading a dominant performance that secured two gold medals for the nation. While Singh took center stage in the pistol events, teammate Samrat Rana added to the tally by clinching a hard-fought bronze.
Esha Singh’s Double Gold Performance
Singh, who has been in peak form throughout the season, proved why she is considered one of Asia’s most formidable marksmen. Her first gold came in the 10m Air Pistol Women’s individual event, where she maintained composure during a tense final to outclass a highly competitive field.
Not satisfied with a single trip to the podium, Singh returned to lead the Indian contingent in the Team Event. Alongside her teammates, she delivered a consistent series of scores that comfortably placed India at the top of the leaderboard, securing her second gold of the day.
Samrat Rana Secures Bronze
In the men’s category, Samrat Rana showcased remarkable resilience. Competing in the 10m Air Pistol Men’s final, Rana faced stiff competition from top-tier shooters across the continent.
Despite a slow start, Rana surged back in the elimination rounds. While he narrowly missed out on the silver medal during the final shots, his total score was enough to secure the bronze medal, ensuring India maintained its presence on the podium across both categories.
Impact on India’s Medal Tally
This latest haul further solidifies India’s position as a powerhouse in Asian shooting. The performance is particularly significant as it serves as a crucial benchmark for the athletes ahead of upcoming international fixtures.
“The consistency shown by Esha and the grit displayed by Samrat reflect the high standard of training our athletes are undergoing,” noted a senior official from the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI).
