JAMNAGAR, GUJARAT — Football legend Lionel Messi officially wrapped up his historic “G.O.A.T. India Tour 2025” on Tuesday with a private visit to Vantara, the world-renowned wildlife rescue and conservation center in Jamnagar. Hosted by Anant Ambani, the visit served as a serene final chapter to a whirlwind multi-city trip that captivated millions of fans across the country.

A Traditional Welcome in Jamnagar

Accompanied by Inter Miami teammates Luis Suárez and Rodrigo De Paul, Messi arrived at the 3,500-acre facility to a grand ceremonial reception. In a scene that quickly went viral, the footballing icons were showered with rose petals as they entered the complex alongside Anant and Radhika Ambani.

Messi, sporting a traditional red tilak on his forehead, was presented with a beaded necklace and a Kashmiri shawl, symbolizing the deep-rooted hospitality of the region.

Spiritual Sojourn and Wildlife Conservation

Moving away from the high-octane stadium energy of the previous days, the group participated in a spiritual session at the temple complex within Vantara. Dressed in formal attire, the trio took part in the evening Aarti and observed traditional rituals, with Messi seen clapping along to bhajans and paying respects.

The highlights of the visit included:

A Guided Night Safari: Traveling in an open vehicle with Anant Ambani, Messi witnessed the rehabilitation efforts for rescued elephants and big cats.

Close Encounters: The “Magician” was photographed inches away from a tiger (separated by a glass partition) and was seen petting a giraffe and feeding a rescued rhinoceros.

Personal Praise: Impressed by the scale of the facility, Messi noted, “What Vantara does is truly beautiful… the way the animals are rescued and looked after is genuinely impressive.”

Reflecting on the G.O.A.T. India Tour 2025

The Jamnagar stop followed an intense three-day itinerary across four major Indian metros:

Kolkata: A chaotic yet passionate start where Messi unveiled a 70-foot statue of himself.

Hyderabad: A celebrity 7-on-7 exhibition match attended by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

Mumbai: A star-studded leg at Wankhede Stadium where he met cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and football icon Sunil Chhetri.

New Delhi: The official grand finale at Arun Jaitley Stadium, featuring a meeting with ICC Chairman Jay Shah and interaction with young Indian footballers.

“Namaste India”: Messi’s Farewell Message

Before departing from Jamnagar Airport on Tuesday, Messi took to social media to share a heartfelt montage of his journey.

“Namaste India! Thanks for the warm welcome and all the expressions of love throughout my tour. I hope football has a bright future in India!” The 2025 tour marks a landmark moment in Indian sporting history, reinforcing the country’s status as a premier destination for global icons and paving the way for future footballing collaborations.
