New Delhi: India marked another milestone in its space journey as the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully carried out the LVM3 “BlueBird” mission, drawing praise from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who termed the achievement a major boost to the country’s self-reliance and technological prowess.
Soon after the launch, PM Modi congratulated ISRO scientists and engineers, lauding their dedication and innovation. In a message shared on social media, the Prime Minister said the successful mission reflects India’s growing capabilities in advanced space technologies and reinforces the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. “ISRO continues to make the nation proud with its consistent achievements. The LVM3 BlueBird mission is another step forward in strengthening India’s self-reliance in space and critical technologies,” he said.
The LVM3, ISRO’s heavy-lift launch vehicle, lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, placing the BlueBird payload into its intended orbit. The mission demonstrated the rocket’s enhanced performance and reliability, further cementing LVM3’s role as the backbone of India’s future deep-space, commercial, and human spaceflight missions, including the ambitious Gaganyaan programme.
ISRO officials said the mission was executed flawlessly, with all stages of the launch vehicle performing as expected. The BlueBird payload is expected to play a key role in advancing India’s space-based capabilities, contributing to research, communication, or strategic objectives, depending on its mission profile.
The successful launch comes at a time when India is rapidly expanding its footprint in the global space sector, with increasing participation from private players and a growing focus on indigenous technology development. Experts say missions like LVM3 BlueBird highlight India’s ability to design, build, and operate complex space systems domestically.
As celebrations continue at ISRO centres across the country, the latest achievement adds to a series of recent successes for the space agency, reinforcing India’s position as a leading spacefaring nation and underlining the government’s push for innovation-led growth.
