JAMMU & KASHMIR – In a significant breakthrough for security forces, one terrorist was killed on Wednesday evening during a high-stakes encounter in the Kishtwar district. The engagement, part of a targeted mission dubbed ‘Operation Trashi-I’, took place in the challenging terrain of the Dichhar area.
According to the Army’s White Knight Corps, contact with the group of fleeing terrorists was re-established around 5:45 PM. A joint team consisting of the Counter-Insurgency Force Delta, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the CRPF moved in to corner the suspects in the Sanjinala-Dichhar forest zone.
“One terrorist has been successfully neutralized. The operation is still in progress as we continue to scan the area for remaining threats,” an official statement confirmed.
This marks the fifth major encounter in the Chatroo belt within the last three weeks. Security agencies have been aggressively tracking a cell of terrorists believed to be affiliated with the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit.
Broader Crackdown: Top Commander Slain in Udhampur
The success in Kishtwar follows another major victory earlier in the day in Udhampur district. Under ‘Operation Kiya’, security forces eliminated two Pakistani terrorists, including a high-ranking JeM commander identified as Rubani (alias Abu Mavia).
The Udhampur operation involved a 20-hour standoff that ended when forces stormed a cave in the Jophar Forest. A significant cache of high-end weaponry, including an M4 carbine and an AK-series assault rifle, was recovered from the site.
Authorities have intensified surveillance and search operations across the upper reaches of Jammu, Kathua, and Kishtwar to dismantle remaining terror modules in the region. Local residents have been advised to remain cautious as area domination exercises continue.
