MUMBAI – Vishal Bhardwaj’s romantic action-drama O’Romeo has successfully navigated its first big test at the box office. Starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, the film has capitalized on the Valentine’s Day weekend to secure its spot as the third highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2026 within just three days of its release.

After a steady start on Friday, the film witnessed a massive 48% jump on Saturday, fueled by the romantic holiday. While Sunday evening saw a slight dip due to the high-voltage India vs. Pakistan T20 World Cup match, the film’s overall momentum remained intact.

On the global front, O’Romeo has crossed the ₹45 crore mark in worldwide gross collections, comfortably overtaking earlier 2026 releases like Ikkis to claim the number three spot on the yearly leaderboard, trailing only behind the juggernaut Border 2 and Mardaani 3.
Shahid Kapoor’s Post-Pandemic Peak
For Shahid Kapoor, O’Romeo marks his biggest opening weekend in the post-pandemic era, surpassing the three-day totals of his previous hits like Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. Critics have praised the “VB-SK” (Vishal Bhardwaj-Shahid Kapoor) magic, comparing the intensity of Kapoor’s character, Haseen Ustara, to his career-best performances.
