Unity in Command: DK Shivakumar Backs CM Siddaramaiah Amidst Power Buzz

Bengaluru, November 30, 2025 — Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has emphatically quelled recent speculation about internal discord within the state’s ruling coalition, asserting that there is “no difference” between himself and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

His statement, delivered with confidence and finality, aims to counter a persistent narrative in political circles that a ‘Game of Thrones’ style power struggle is brewing between the two leaders, who were rivals for the Chief Ministerial post following the Congress party’s resounding victory in 2023.

 Quashing the Rumors

Addressing the media in Bengaluru, Shivakumar—who is also the President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC)—stressed the cohesive nature of the government’s leadership.

“I know my limits. There is absolutely no difference between me and CM Siddaramaiah,” he stated. “We are working together under the direction of the party high command to serve the people of Karnataka and deliver on our promises.”

The Congress Model

This public show of support is seen as a strategic move to present a united front, especially as the government prepares for crucial budget preparations and upcoming Panchayat elections. Political analysts suggest that by downplaying his own ambition and stressing his defined role, Shivakumar is adhering to the high command’s decision that designated Siddaramaiah as CM for the full term.

Shivakumar reportedly pointed out that the government is functioning smoothly, with all ministers working collaboratively.

Focus on Governance

The Deputy CM’s comments refocus the narrative away from individual power dynamics and onto the state’s development agenda. The current administration has been heavily focused on implementing its five guarantee schemes, which are credited with securing the Congress’s return to power.

“Our focus is not on who holds what position, but on ensuring the guarantees reach every beneficiary,” Shivakumar affirmed. His comments signal an apparent shift toward emphasizing collective responsibility and governance, rather than the political jostling often associated with coalition structures.

 The Road Ahead

While Shivakumar’s strong endorsement provides immediate relief to the party and its image, observers will continue to monitor the dynamics between the two strong leaders. Both Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar maintain significant loyal support bases within the party and the state.

The immediate future, however, appears to be one of political stability and unified administration, as the government continues its work with a clear message: the high command’s decision stands, and the leaders are committed to working as one team.
