The makers of the upcoming film Devara: Part 1, starring Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor, have stepped up to take strict legal action after a digitally altered, inappropriate video of their hit track “Chuttamalle” went viral on social media. The team has strongly condemned the clip, calling the misuse of artificial intelligence completely unacceptable.
Misuse of Technology Sparks Outrage
The song “Chuttamalle,” which captured hearts with its catchy rhythm and the fresh pairing of Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor, became a major chartbuster upon release. However, miscreants recently used AI face-swapping tools to alter scenes from the music video, circulating vulgar and explicit edits across platforms like X and Instagram.
The synthetic clip caused massive outrage among fans, who immediately flooded social media demanding a crackdown on the accounts sharing and promoting the content.
Production House Warns of Police Action
Reacting swiftly, the film’s production house released an official statement condemning the clip. The makers clarified that they have zero tolerance for such disrespect toward their cast and crew, confirming that cybercrime complaints have been registered.
The team stated:
“It has come to our notice that an obscene, morphed video involving our actors from the song ‘Chuttamalle’ is being circulated online. This is not only illegal but deeply disrespectful. We are taking strict legal action against those who created and spread this clip.”
Authorities have been urged to track down the digital footprint of the original creators, and legal notices are being issued to pull down the offending material.
Rising Menace of Deepfakes in Cinema
This incident highlights the growing threat of deepfakes and generative AI in the film industry. Janhvi Kapoor is not the first actor to be targeted; prominent personalities like Rashmika Mandanna, Katrina Kaif, and Alia Bhatt have previously faced similar invasive attacks using altered visuals.
Industry bodies and fans alike have called for stricter digital safety laws to ensure that technology is not used to violate personal dignity and artistic work.
