BENGALURU — The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru is gearing up for a bustling week, with nearly a dozen centrally contracted and targeted national players expected to arrive for fitness evaluations, rehabilitation, and training.
High Activity at the Facility
With the domestic season around the corner and crucial international assignments looming, the Bengaluru facility has turned into a hive of activity.
Currently in Training/Rehab: Stars like Hardik Pandya, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Varun Chakaravarthy, Harshit Rana, and Akash Deep are already at the facility, working on skill-building and recovery regimens.
Incoming Arrivals: Test regulars and key players—including Washington Sundar, Mohammed Siraj, and Ravindra Jadeja—are scheduled to join the camp shortly to complete comprehensive fitness assessments.
Targeted Talent Screened: Emerging red-ball prospects such as Sarfaraz Khan, Musheer Khan, and Abhishek Porel have already completed their physical evaluations ahead of their participation in the upcoming domestic fixtures.
Proactive Injury Prevention and Assessment
The management’s immediate focus revolves around ensuring all prospective players are fully match-fit ahead of upcoming Test series and white-ball commitments.
“Thorough assessments will be carried out, and the selectors will be informed about player statuses before squad selections. The team management does not want to take any chances regarding fitness or risk preventable breakdowns,” noted a source tracking developments at the CoE.
Looking Ahead: A Packed Schedule
The surge in traffic at the CoE highlights the BCCI’s strategy to maintain a deeper, injury-resilient player pool across formats. With an intense schedule ahead—featuring home series, overseas tours, and domestic tournaments like the Duleep Trophy—the sports science and medical teams are working around the clock to ensure every candidate is thoroughly monitored before stepping back into competitive action.
