Virat Kohli has created history once again by becoming the fastest batter ever to score 15,000 runs in One-Day International (ODI) cricket. Reaching the milestone in just his 303rd innings, Kohli shattered the previous record set by cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, who took 377 innings to get there.
With this achievement, Kohli joins Tendulkar as only the second batter in the entire history of men’s ODI cricket to cross the 15,000-run mark.
A Masterclass Under Pressure
Kohli entered the match needing 59 runs to hit the landmark. Walking in during India’s run chase against the West Indies at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, he wasted no time settling into rhythm.
He brought up his half-century in just 40 balls, striking clean boundaries all around the ground. Moments later, Kohli pulled pacer Alzarri Joseph to the fence to reach the magic number. As the crowd gave him a standing ovation, he raised both hands in a warm tribute toward his idol, Sachin Tendulkar.
