The Madhya Pradesh High Court has directed a second post-mortem examination in the alleged dowry death case of Twisha Sharma, intensifying scrutiny into the circumstances surrounding her demise. The court has instructed that the fresh autopsy be conducted by a specialized team from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi to ensure transparency and accuracy in the investigation.
The case, which has drawn significant public attention, involves allegations that Twisha Sharma was subjected to harassment over dowry demands before her death. Her family had raised concerns regarding the initial post-mortem report, claiming inconsistencies and possible lapses in the examination process. These concerns prompted them to approach the court seeking an independent review.
Taking note of the seriousness of the allegations and the need for an impartial inquiry, the High Court ordered that a new medical board be constituted at AIIMS Delhi. The court emphasized that the second post-mortem should be conducted under strict supervision, with detailed documentation and videography to maintain credibility.
Legal experts believe that the court’s decision could play a crucial role in determining the direction of the investigation. A fresh autopsy report from a reputed institution like AIIMS is expected to either validate or challenge the findings of the initial examination, thereby influencing further legal proceedings.
Meanwhile, authorities have assured full cooperation with the court’s directives. The case continues to be under investigation, and further action will depend on the findings of the second post-mortem report.
The incident has once again highlighted the persistent issue of dowry-related violence in India, sparking renewed calls for stricter enforcement of laws and greater societal awareness to combat the practice.
