Glasgow: A sense of concern has gripped the sporting community after Pakistani boxer Qudratullah was reported missing from his team hotel shortly after the conclusion of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Officials confirmed that the athlete disappeared under unclear circumstances, prompting an immediate search effort by local authorities.
According to team representatives, Qudratullah was last seen at the designated team accommodation late at night following the closing stages of the tournament. When he failed to report for a scheduled team activity the following morning, concerns were raised, and an internal check was conducted before the matter was escalated to the police.
Authorities in Glasgow have launched an investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage from the hotel and surrounding areas to trace the boxer’s movements. Law enforcement officials stated that there is currently no evidence suggesting foul play, but all possibilities are being considered as part of the inquiry.
Officials from the Pakistan contingent have expressed deep concern over the incident and are cooperating fully with local authorities. In a brief statement, team management said they are in constant touch with law enforcement agencies and are hopeful of a safe resolution.
The Commonwealth Games Federation has also been informed about the situation. While the Games concluded without major incidents, this unexpected development has cast a shadow over the otherwise successful international sporting event.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Boxing Federation has urged anyone with information about Qudratullah’s whereabouts to come forward. Family members of the boxer have been notified, and efforts are underway to ensure his safe return.
