New Delhi: Senior Congress leader K. C. Venugopal on Tuesday dismissed speculation about any discussions regarding a change in the Chief Minister of Karnataka, stating that no such issue was raised during recent party meetings in the national capital.
Addressing the media in Delhi, Venugopal clarified that the leadership question in Karnataka was not on the agenda and urged people not to pay attention to rumours. His remarks come amid growing political chatter and media reports suggesting possible internal deliberations within the Congress party over leadership in the southern state.
Venugopal emphasized that the party remains focused on governance and delivering on its commitments to the people of Karnataka. He added that the Congress leadership is united and there is no instability within the state unit.
The statement is being seen as an attempt to put an end to ongoing speculation about internal differences or a potential reshuffle in the Karnataka government. Party insiders also echoed similar views, indicating that the leadership issue is settled and there is no immediate plan for change.
The Congress government in Karnataka, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, has been in office since its electoral victory, and party leaders have repeatedly underlined their commitment to stability and development.
With Venugopal’s clarification, the party has sought to project unity and dismiss any notion of internal discord, even as political observers continue to watch developments closely.
