Mumbai: Senior leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), Aaditya Thackeray, has launched a sharp attack on six dissident Members of Parliament from his party, accusing them of betrayal and ingratitude amid escalating internal tensions.
Referring to the situation as “Operation Tiger,” Thackeray criticized the rebel MPs for what he described as opportunistic behavior, alleging that they had abandoned the party despite gaining political recognition and support through its platform. He labeled their actions as “shameless and ungrateful,” intensifying the ongoing war of words within the party ranks.
The remarks come at a time when the Shiv Sena (UBT) continues to grapple with internal divisions following earlier splits that reshaped Maharashtra’s political landscape. Thackeray emphasized that loyalty to the party and its ideology should remain paramount, warning that such defections weaken not only the organization but also the trust of the electorate.
Sources within the party indicate that the leadership may take further disciplinary action against the dissenting MPs. Meanwhile, the opposition has seized the opportunity to question the unity and stability of the Shiv Sena (UBT), suggesting that the infighting could impact its future electoral performance.
Political analysts believe that the episode reflects broader challenges faced by regional parties in maintaining cohesion amid shifting alliances and ambitions. As tensions continue to simmer, all eyes remain on how the party leadership navigates this latest crisis and whether reconciliation or further fragmentation lies ahead.
