Police in Bihar’s Jamui district have arrested three men following widespread public anger over a viral video showing a teenage girl being harassed and assaulted in broad daylight. The swift action came after the distressing clip began circulating widely on social media platforms, drawing sharp condemnation from citizens and activists alike.
The Shocking Clip
The incident took place in an isolated area within the jurisdiction of Jamui district. In the video, a group of young men can be seen surrounding the terrified minor girl. Despite her repeated pleas and visible distress, the individuals continued to tease, physically restrain, and grope her while another member of the group recorded the entire episode on a mobile phone.
The clip quickly surfaced on local social media channels, triggering immediate shock across the region. Local residents demanded swift accountability, pointing out that such public acts of brazen misconduct highlight serious concerns over safety.
Police Move In Quickly
As soon as the video caught the attention of senior officials, the district police formed a special investigation team to verify its authenticity and identify the culprits. Using digital surveillance, local intelligence, and technical clues from the clip, investigators traced the location within hours.
Raids were conducted at multiple hideouts across neighboring villages, leading to the arrest of three key suspects. Police also seized mobile devices, including the phone believed to have been used to film the assault.
“We took cognizance of the video immediately and launched a targeted operation,” a senior police officer stated. “Three individuals involved in the assault and the recording have been taken into custody. We are questioning them to find out if more people were present at the scene.”
Tough Legal Action Promised
Authorities confirmed that a formal First Information Report (FIR) has been registered. The suspects face charges under stringent sections of the law dealing with assault, outraging a woman’s modesty, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act for sharing sensitive content involving a minor.
Police stressed that they will build a watertight case against the accused to ensure a speedy trial. Medical assistance and counseling have also been arranged for the survivor to help her cope with the trauma.

Jamui police issued a strict advisory urging the public not to share, re-upload, or forward the video on WhatsApp, Facebook, or any other online platform.
Officers reiterated that distributing clips depicting the assault of a minor is a serious offense under Indian law and violates the privacy and dignity of the victim. Anyone found circulating the footage will face strict legal action.
The arrests have brought some relief to the local community, but the incident has once again turned the spotlight on women’s security and the urgent need for strict enforcement in public spaces.
