GURUGRAM — In a major breakthrough in the shocking Golf Course Road hit-and-run incident involving a woman motorcyclist, Haryana Police have arrested the prime accused, 33-year-old Kalyan Singh Bainsla, following a multi-state manhunt. Officials revealed that Bainsla, who now faces charges of attempt to murder, attempted a desperate bid to escape custody immediately after being apprehended.
The accused was tracked down and arrested by the Crime Branch team in the Dausa–Rajgarh stretch of Rajasthan. According to senior police officers, Bainsla attempted to break away from law enforcement custody on the pretext of stepping aside to urinate. During the sudden flight attempt, he tripped, fell, and sustained minor injuries before being swiftly recaptured. He was administered first aid at a nearby hospital before being transferred into formal custody.
Charges Escalated Following Probe
The case stems from a road-rage encounter on Golf Course Road that triggered widespread outrage online. The survivor, a motorcyclist identified on social media as Sia, shared helmet camera footage documenting the sequence of events. The video appeared to show a sedan trailing her, making aggressive lane maneuvers, and ultimately swerving sharply to ram her motorcycle, sending her crashing onto the tarmac while her bike skidded along the road.
Following an extensive review of CCTV footage and the survivor’s detailed statement, investigators significantly escalated the initial case. The Gurugram Police invoked stringent provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including:
Section 109: Attempt to murder
Section 78: Stalking
Section 79: Words, gestures, or acts intended to insult the modesty of a woman
Gurugram Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Sandeep Kumar stated that the complainant reported the accused had hurled abusive and indecent remarks at her and made menacing gestures before deliberately swerving into her motorcycle.
Media Appearances to Manhunt
Before going underground, Bainsla—a gym operator and real estate dealer residing in Chandhat, Palwal district—had appeared in select media interviews where he claimed the crash was accidental and denied intentionally striking the rider. Shortly afterward, he switched off his mobile phone and fled Haryana, prompting police to deploy three specialized teams across state borders to apprehend him.
Police have also recovered the vehicle involved in the collision, which was found to be registered under the name of an acquaintance. Another associate seen accompanying Bainsla during the incident has been detained for questioning as investigators piece together the complete sequence of events.
