In a significant development, the Supreme Court of India has stayed the arrest of Sumit Roy, an aide of Abhishek Banerjee, in connection with the alleged land-grab case in Salboni, West Bengal.
The apex court’s interim relief came after Roy approached it challenging the legality of the proceedings initiated against him. The bench observed that the matter required further examination and granted protection from arrest until the next hearing. The court also issued notices to the concerned authorities, seeking their response in the case.
