MUMBAI — In a major development surrounding the renewed probe into the death of celebrity manager Disha Salian, central investigators have identified an unknown woman as a potential missing link in the events that unfolded on the night of June 8, 2020.

The fresh line of inquiry surfaced following an analysis of earlier police testimonies, specifically a statement recorded on June 15, 2020, by Mumbai Police Constable Santosh Kachirat Gungune. In his statement, Gungune cited information provided by a hospital doctor stating that Salian had been brought to the medical facility by “two men and a woman”.

Investigators are now working to determine the identity of this woman, whose presence at the hospital had largely escaped scrutiny during the initial accidental death proceedings.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) recently registered a formal First Information Report (FIR) following directives from the Bombay High Court, which flagged “glaring discrepancies” in the initial investigation conducted by the local police. Salian, 28, who had previously managed late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, died after falling from the 14th floor of a residential building in Malad, Mumbai, just days before Rajput was found dead in his Bandra residence.

The investigation is being supervised by CBI Superintendent of Police Seema Pahuja, a decorated officer renowned for her forensic expertise in handling high-profile criminal matters.

Sources close to the probe indicated that the agency’s priorities include:

Tracing the identity of the unidentified woman and questioning the hospital personnel on duty that night.

Examining call data records, entry logs, and electronic evidence surrounding the gathering at the apartment of Salian’s fiancé, Rohan Roy.

Reviewing forensic reports, autopsy documentation, and allegations concerning the mishandling or suppression of case records during the initial inquiry.

While multiple individuals and public figures have been named in the FIR for having their roles examined, officials emphasized that the mentions are subject to verification and do not represent formal charges of guilt at this stage.
