NEW DELHI — Excitement turned into an immediate legal race for the producers of the magnum opus Ramayana: Part 1 after unauthorized, phone-recorded footage from the trailer surfaced online over the weekend. The clip was leaked following an exclusive private screening held at the star-studded “Pratham Sankalp” launch event at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. In response, producer Namit Malhotra and director Nitesh Tiwari have activated an aggressive anti-piracy operation to purge the footage across digital platforms.
The highly anticipated trailer preview was meant strictly for invited guests, spiritual leaders, and select dignitaries during the Delhi event. However, an 88-second phone-recorded video captured from inside the venue soon made its way onto social media channels.
Key Moments Spoiled in the Leaked Footage
Despite high security and strict phone restrictions during the screening, an attendee managed to record key narrative beats from the preview:
Prince Rama’s Entry: The leaked clip offers a brief look at Ranbir Kapoor’s grand entrance as Prince Rama.
The Promise of Exile: It captures a pivotal emotional scene where Rama agrees to fulfill his father King Dasharatha’s promise to Kaikeyi, stepping down from the throne of Ayodhya to go into exile.
Antagonist Reveal: Additional circulating snippets highlight Kannada superstar Yash as Lankesh (Ravana) alongside quick glimpses of Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita.
Anti-Piracy Action and Takedown Operation
Following the leak, the film’s production company, Prime Focus Studios, immediately deployed its anti-piracy partners and legal team to trace the source of the breach and pull down unauthorized links.
“Our legal teams have been working round-the-clock since Saturday night to scrub these links. While we successfully removed the content from forums like Reddit by Sunday morning, tracking down and removing re-uploads on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) continues to be an ongoing process.”

The makers have issued an official request asking fans to refrain from watching or sharing unauthorized low-quality clips, urging audiences to experience the visuals in their intended cinematic quality when the official trailer debuts globally.
Global Launch Strategy Unchanged
Despite the leak, the production team’s global promotional roadmap remains on schedule.
