Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday launched a strong attack on opposition parties over the ongoing controversy surrounding donations for the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Addressing a public gathering, Adityanath urged critics to refrain from what he described as attempts to malign the religious and cultural significance of the temple project.
“Do not cast an evil eye on Ayodhya,” the Chief Minister said, emphasizing that the Ram Mandir represents the faith and devotion of millions of people across the country. He accused opposition leaders of spreading misinformation and trying to create unnecessary controversy over the donation process.
The remarks come amid allegations raised by some opposition figures questioning the transparency and management of funds collected for the temple’s construction. In response, Adityanath defended the process, asserting that all contributions have been handled with accountability and respect for public trust.
He further highlighted the transformation of Ayodhya into a major spiritual and tourism hub, noting that development projects in the city have generated employment and boosted the local economy. According to him, attempts to discredit the Ram Mandir initiative are not only politically motivated but also disrespectful to devotees.
The Ram Mandir, a long-awaited project, has remained a politically sensitive issue, often sparking debates between ruling and opposition parties. While the government continues to showcase it as a symbol of cultural pride and unity, critics have called for greater transparency in financial matters.
As the debate intensifies, the Chief Minister’s remarks signal a firm stance by the state government in defending both the temple project and its broader narrative of development in Ayodhya.
